I worked on this project for Alexander Lotersztain during my internship in his studio.
I made the 3D model, technical drawings, renderings and presentation with Alexander's guidance. This project taught me about the complex process of furniture design especially in the area of 3D modelling in Solidworks.
The Venus collection borrows from nature’s unchanging harmony. Worshiped by ancient civilizations such as Greek and Romans as goddess of love and beauty, the scallop shell inspired diverse architectural designs, from the Cathedral niche Caps, the dome, shell-hooded porches and the spiral staircases to Botticelli’s famous 1484 painting, ‘Birth of Venus’, showing her being lifted from the sea on a beautiful, symmetrical scallop shell.
Seashells have always enticed collectors – a collection was even found among the ancient ruins of Pompeii. Wealthy Europeans in the 17th century considered rare shells (from the deepest oceans) to be status symbols.
The collection exclusively designed for Rossana Orlandi, features limited series of polished stainless steel with gold and bronze finishes that captures the essence of one of nature’s most emotive designs with a contemporary shape and material.
The Limited concept was born of Alexander Lotersztain’s passion for materials, technologies and craftsmanship. It serves as an experiment to study the boundaries of aesthetics and functional innovation.
Each piece is produced in the finest materials, personally overseen by the designer to insure the highest standards of craftsmanship are met. They are then individually numbered and sold with a certificate of authenticity, signed by Alexander Lotersztain.
